The Ehsaas Rural Value Chain Building Committee met for the second time at the Prime Minister’s office to deliberate on proposed inclusive strategy for developing rural value chain policies. Rural Value Chains are a key element of the Ehsaas Strategy Document, which noted that, with little or no incentive for agriculture growth, Pakistan is almost at half the production levels compared to neighboring countries. The deliberations during the meeting brought the light to myriad stakeholders working in a fragmented manner with no coordination. The members of the committee agreed that currently there is a need for mapping of fragmented rural value chains projects running in all provinces and look at the rural landscape holistically as a starting point. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation.
