Dr. Sania’s article published in Project Syndicate gets coverage in 11 countries

September 2, 2020: Dr. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation has penned an op-ed titled, ‘How cash transfers prevent lockdown tragedies’ that was published in Project Syndicate on August 19, 2020. The same article has been translated in 9 languages and published in 11 countries worldwide including Thailand, Jordan, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Tonga, Middle East and Pakistan. Narrating her Ehsaas Emergency Cash experience, Dr. Nishtar stated, ‘COVID-19 has decimated livelihoods worldwide, squeezing the middle class and pushing low-income households into abject poverty. Social-protection programs such as Pakistan's Ehsaas Emergency Cash offer not only a path forward during the pandemic, but also valuable lessons for the future. We are deeply humbled to have supported more than 14.69 million COVID-19 lockdown affected families to-date.’ Read op-ed here.
