Ehsaas conducts a Zoom session with experts from Aga Khan University to exchange views on stunting in Pakistan

July 23, 2020 -Islamabad: A Zoom session led by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Sania Nishtar was held with Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutta, Founding Director, Institute of Global Health at Aga Khan University, South Central Asia, East Africa and United Kingdom and his team. Mr. Bhutta presented global stunting situation along with quantitative findings of Pakistan sub-national study around stunting distribution patterns. The discussion analysed change in stunting patterns since 2011 looking at various drivers for improvement including economic growth, contributions by the social and health sectors. In her concluding words, Dr. Nishtar stated, “The sub-national results of stunting patterns are important for policy and most interesting to expand the scope of upcoming Ehsaas Nashonuma programme that is aimed to prevent stunting in children under 2 years of age.”
