National Study Tour by delegation from 2nd Senior Management Course (SMC) at Ministry of Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety, Islamabad

On February 11, 2025, a delegation of officers from Sindh Provincial Civil Service, participating in the 2nd Senior Management Course (SMC), visited the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation & Social Safety. The delegation was led by Director General Mr. Muhammad Issa Memon.

The Secretary Mr. Navid Ahmed Shaikh gave the comprehensive overview on the Ministry's mandate, responsibilities, and strategic initiatives. He emphasized the Ministry's pivotal role in designing and implementing the social protection policies. The Secretary also outlined key initiatives being made to implement its mandate through Ministry’s ancillary organizations including Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) and Trust for Voluntary Organizations (TVO).

The delegation was also briefed on the National Poverty Graduation Program, aimed at providing sustainable economic opportunities for low-income communities through assets transfer, vocational trainings and community mobilization. The session fostered an interactive discussion, allowing participants to engage in a Q&A session.

The visiting delegation appreciated the opportunity to engage with the Ministry and learning about poverty alleviation and social safety. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration, innovation, and the continuous improvement of social protection initiatives.
